Techniques
Active Release Technique (ART)
There are numerous patented and specific protocols unique to ART. These protocols are used to help the provider find the specific problem affecting the individual and correct it. Repetitive stress, strains/sprains, muscle spasm and hypoxia (lack of oxygen) can lead to inflammation and the formation of dense scar tissue resulting in poor joint mechanics and loss of full function.
Our body’s own scar tissue removal systems are slow and often times ineffective, leading to chronic repetitive injuries. As a certified ART Provider, Dr. Land can quickly and efficiently remove the scar tissue, promoting optimal function and healthier tissue. Active Release Technique initially emerged in the NFL and currently over 80% of professional sports teams in the U.S. utilize ART sports practitioners to improve performance before and after events and to allow for faster healing of injuries.
Dr. Land is ART certified in upper extremities, lower extremities, spine, biomechanics, nerve entrapments, and complex protocols. He also furthered his ART knowledge through an ART Master’s certification, as an ART Iron Man provider, and via Level Two (advanced level) courses. He was part of the medical staff and ART treatment team for the Florida Iron Man in Panama City, FL. Please visit www.activerelease.com for more information.
Graston Technique
Graston is a patented, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization therapy. As a certified Graston provider, Dr. Land utilizes specially designed stainless-steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. The goal is to improve circulation, elasticity, and range of motion back to damaged soft tissue, thus restoring proper function and reducing risk of re-injury.
Graston Technique has become standard protocol in major universities and hospital-based outpatient facilities across the nation, as well as being used by NBA, NHL and MLB trainers. Please visit www.grastontechnique.com for more information.
Dr. Land combines his knowledge and experience as a certified ART and Graston provider along with that of him being a certified sports chiropractor and certified extremity practitioner to effectively treat his patient’s injuries.
Spinal Manipulations
Following soft tissue injury or repetitive wear and tear the normal position or movement of the spinal joints stiffen causing restriction of movement. Chiropractic spinal manipulations are designed to restore normal range of motion, take pressure off nerves, and thus minimize pain and inflammation. This gentle manipulative therapy is highly effective in rapidly returning the injured person to a functional pain-free state.
Extremity Manipulations
Just like the spine, joints of the extremities can also become restricted and lose range of motion. When this happens, biomechanics of that joint can become altered and result in strain, sprain, nerve entrapment, to name a few. Dr. Land locates and corrects restricted joints of the shoulders, elbows, wrists/hands, hips, knees, and ankles/feet to treat extremity injuries.
Exercise and Rehabilitation
As a Certified Sports Chiropractor (CCSP), physiotherapist, and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Dr. Land applies scientific knowledge to prescribe a specific condition-based rehabilitation program for patients.
Kinesio Taping
Kinesio Tape gained worldwide recognition in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. When it is adhered to the skin, the tape lifts the tissue away from the injured area and fascia allowing blood to flow properly and alleviate swelling, thus promoting healing. There are numerous specified taping techniques Dr. Land uses to facilitate the healing process. Please visit www.kinesiotaping.com for more information.
